Obituary for Jesse Lee Horn

Jesse Lee Horn, 83 years of age, of Pilgrims Knob, VA, passed away Friday, January 26th, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on May 9th, 1934 in Dwight, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lula Mae Kelly Horn.

Jesse was of the Baptist faith and attended the Baptist Bible Church. He was a former employee of Island Creek Coal Company and the Buchanan County Social Services. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army in which he served Twenty-Two Years, Six Months and Five Days. He served during the Korean Conflict and bravely fought in the Vietnam War. While in the Military he received the Bronze Star Medal & Oak Leaf Cluster Bronze Large, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal & Oak Leaf Cluster Bronze Large, Good Conduct Medal & Clasp Bronze (Good Conduct #5), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal & Bronze Star Attachment, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal & Bronze Star Attachment (Quadruple), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device, Driver and Mechanic Badge and the Expert Badge & Carbine Bar & Rifle Bar. Loving Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Horn and Verna Viars and five brothers, Tommy Horn, Gary Horn, Larry Horn, Millard Horn and Bobby Horn.

Those left to cherish his memories include one daughter, Sheila Horn Robinson and husband Phillip of Tazewell, VA; three sons, Christopher Lee Horn and fiancé Judy of Pilgrims Knob, VA, Robert Craig Horn and wife Regina of Pilgrims Knob, VA and Michael Albert Horn and wife Kathy of Roanoke, VA; two sisters, Cora Mullins of Whitewood, VA and Gracie Freeman of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Edmon Horn and wife Mae of Fayetteville, NC and Otas Jackson Horn and wife Sandra of Akron, OH. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chastity Robinson, Tim Horn, Ali Horn, Rachel Horn and Zoe Horn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. J.P. Sutherland and Dr. Denny R. Goss.

The funeral services for Jesse Lee Horn will be Monday, January 29, 2018 at 6:00 P.M at the Funeral Home with evening services to begin at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Clyde Wimmer officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will take place in Arlington National Cemetery on a later date.
