Obituary for Roy Randolph Hall

Roy Randolph Hall, 69 years of age of North Tazewell, VA, formerly of Big Rock, VA, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. Born November 19, 1949 in Hazard, KY, he was the son of the late Marcus and Mildred Adkins Hall.

Roy was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict, was a member of the 1st Airborne serving his country three years in active duty and one year in the reserve. There he was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campagne Medal W/60 Device, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal 2 O/S Bars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M14. He was a member of the VFW # 9640 in Claypool Hill, VA, and member of the VFW # 7360 in Grundy, VA. He was a retired coal miner, having worked for Jewell Coal Corporation, enjoyed coon hunting, spending time with his family. A loving husband, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael Randolph Hall, sister Katherine Lynn Crumb, and brother John Randall Hall.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-seven years and ten months Molly Carol Lester Hall of N. Tazewell, VA; sisters Linda Carol Hall of Columbus, OH, Deborah Denise Hall of FL, Donna Kay Smith of Beattyville, KY; brothers Daniel Ray Hall of Hazard, KY, Marcus Wayne Hall and wife Sherry of PA, Larry Dean Hall and wife Dena of Mouthcard, KY, Roger Dale Hall and wife Shay of Hazard, KY; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Roy Randolph Hall will be held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Danny Hess and Evangelist Mike Rife officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park of Big Rock, VA.

Active pallbearers will be his nephews.

Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Wednesday, December 19th after 6:00 p.m. where evening services will be held Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
