Obituary for Fredia Lou Keene

Fredia Lou Keene, 71 years of age of Whitewood, VA, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy, VA. Born July 7, 1946 in Richlands, VA she was the daughter of the late Lucian and Lola Cantrell Keen.

Fredia was of the Christian faith and was an avid reader. Loving sister, niece, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and dear friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Marlene Chambers; one brother-in-law, Howard Ewing Clark; maternal grandparents, David and Betsy Horn Cantrell; and paternal grandparents, Dave and Sara Horn Keen.

Those left to cherish her memories include her sisters, Phyllis Sue Keen Clark of Roanoke, VA, Bonnie Kay Keen of Crimora, VA, Connie Fay Keen of Roanoke, VA, Hester “Bootsie” Horn of Raven, VA and sister of the heart Gilda Burress Hurt of Tazewell, VA; aunts Myrtle Cantrell of Cedar Bluff, VA and Effie Hicks of Ieager, WV; special uncle and aunt Walter and Ruby Alice Horn of Cedar Bluff.

She is also survived by her special nieces and nephews, Karen Keesee and Michelle Renee Melendez both of Roanoke, VA, Ronnie Clark of Roanoke, VA and Freddie Horn of Bristol, VA; great nieces, Angela Martinez of Knoxville, TN, Amber Keesee, Brianna Melendez, Brittany Melendez and Lola Clark all of Roanoke, VA; one great-great niece, Paris Martinez of Knoxville, TN, and two great-great-nephews, Jean-Gabriel Martinez of Knoxville, TN and Declan Melendez of Roanoke, VA; and a host of family and friends whom loved her dearly.

Funeral service for Fredia Lou Keeene will be held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Chapel of Keen Mountain, VA, Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend David Horton and Pastor Clyde Wimmer, Jr. officiating. Burial will in the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Clark, Homer Chambers, Walter Horn, Ricky Fields, Edward Mounts, and Freddie Horn. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Horn and Eardie Ward.

The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 2, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with evening service to begin at 7 p.m.
