Obituary for Edith Maze Hale Taylor

Edith was a loving wife, mother, grandmommy, great-grandmommy, great-great grandmommy, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, faith, kindness, and community. She was the matriarch of the Taylor family and was the last living member of her immediate family.

She was born on October 14th, 1918. In her early years she attended Emory & Henry College, and married the love of her life, James Lewis Taylor on July 10th, 1938. She and James quickly grew from a family of two to a family of six. Edith worked as a Postmaster and retired from the US Postal Service. She proudly held the record for the oldest living graduate of TMI. An avid reader and sports enthusiast, you could always count on her having the game on TV or enjoying a new book on her Kindle. She was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Oakwood Presbyterian Church.

At 100 years, 8 months, and 7 days old, Edith took great pride in her age, wearing it as gracefully as she wore the crown bestowed on her by five generations awe and wonder. She had an immense love for her family and friends, and a magical way of making each person in her life feel special.

On the morning of Monday, June 24th, 2019, Edith passed at her home with her loving family around her. Today, we celebrate the life of Edith Maze Taylor. May we continue to find strength in her love. May her perseverance shine in us when we are working toward our own goals. May her faith live through us. May her kindness be found in the good deeds we do.
