Obituary for Austin Lee Kennedy

Austin Lee Kennedy, 95 years of age of Paynesville, WV, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his home. Born March 7, 1923 in Paynesville, WV, he was the son of the late Daniel Kennedy and Sarah Horn Kennedy.

Austin was a United States Air Force Veteran, was a retired mining electrician and member of the UMWA. He attended Crossview Church of Christ, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, was an inventor and could make and repair anything. A loving father, grandfather and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mullins Kennedy after sixty-seven years of marriage, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include his sons Alan Lee Kennedy of Maher, WV, Neal Kennedy and wife Susan of Maynardville, TN, Robin Dale Kennedy and wife Cathy of Knoxville, TN; brothers James “JD” Kennedy of Paynesville, WV; grandchildren Brittany Kennedy, Nikki Balliro and husband Ben, Austin Dale Kennedy; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Austin Lee Kennedy will be held at the Crossview Church of Christ in Paynesville, WV, Monday, March 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Evangelist Hobert Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorothy Kennedy Family Cemetery in Paynesville, WV.

Active pallbearers will be his family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Crossview Church of Christ, Sunday, March 25, after 6:00 p.m. with a song service to be held at 7:00 p.m.
